EXPERT HELP AND ADVICE

Our quest is to share expert knowledge and skills to help and empower people to have the healthiest ears and the best hearing possible.

Our Ear Nurses are part of the Ear Nurse Specialist Group of New Zealand. This is a professional group of Registered Nurses trained in the specialty of Otology. All our nurses are registered with the New Zealand Nursing Council as Registered Nurses and have completed our comprehensive training programme. They continue to keep up to date with the latest information and training available within the global ear network.

TOLBECS Ear Nurses are able to assist with the following:

  1. Education on various ear conditions including:

  • Ear Wax and general ear care

  • Ear canal and middle ear infections

  • Use of ear drops and antibiotics for ear infections

  • Glue ear and middle ear fluid

  • Advice with flying and diving

  • Eustachian Tube dysfunction

  • Ear drum perforations

  • Ear pain

  • Swimmers ear

  • Surfers ear or Exostoses

  • Tinnitus

  • Hearing loss (please note we only do screening hearing tests)

  • Sudden Deafness

2. Referral to other providers including:

  • Audiologists for full diagnostic hearing tests - please note that children under the age of 4 require a specialized setting to perform a hearing test. They often need to be referred to the audiology department at your local hospital or a private audiologist who provides this specialized service.

  • Ear Nose and Throat Specialists in private practice (to be referred to the public health system you will need to see your doctor but we can provide supporting documents and notes to assist with this)

  • Your GP - we can send a full report of all findings and recommendations to your general practitioner.
